All Websites in Armenia are Now Accessible for ARMFN Users! The New Year brings new opportunities for the ArmFN users that have had no Internet access at all! In the framework of an agreement with the two largest ISPs of Armenia - Yerevan Physics Institute and Arminco, all websites hosted at these two providers and their clients are now accessible for all ArmFN users free of charge! Unfortunately, access to some websites can be relatively time consuming, but we will try to do our utmost to optimise the IP routing within Armenia and thus enhance the access speed.
Well, what should our users do to access all the websites in Armenia?
First of all, please note that this information DOES NOT concern those who already have Internet access via commercial ISPs - they already have an access to websites in Armenia. All the others should connect their web browsers to our proxy server "proxy.freenet.am," port 3128 for HTTP and
FTP.
For Netscape Communicator, please follow these steps: open "Edit" --> Preferences --> Advanced --> Proxies, then check "Manual Proxy Configuration," press "View," type "proxy.freenet.am" in HTTP edit box, and type 3128 in the next "Port" box; follow the same sequence in FTP boxes. Press OK, and then another OK in "Preferences" dialogue box.
For MS Internet Explorer, please do the following: open "View" --> "Internet Options" --> "Connection", check "Access the Internet using a proxy server," then press "Advanced," and in HTTP edit box type
"proxy.freenet.am," and in the next box "Port" type 3128; do the same in FTP boxes. Press OK, and then another OK in "Preferences" dialogue box.
Now your browser is connected. To make sure, please try, for example, www.president.am. The catalogues of websites in Armenia can be found at www.aua.am/sites/arm_site.ssi or www.arminco.com. A new catalogue will soon be available at home, in www.freenet.am.

ULTIMATE ARCHIVE OF FREE/SHAREWARE FOR WINDOWS - TUCOWS - IS NOW IN
ARMENIA!
4GB of most popular free software - from Netscape Communicator and NT Service Packs to TinyWeb Server and McAfee ViruScan - only last releases, overviews, archive search - all this is now here at home, at /tucows/ !
In order to access this site (the mirror site, more precisely) on one of the ArmFN servers, our users should either have full Internet access or connect to our proxy server as described in the previous section.

OUR USER WEBSITES
We are very glad that now over 70 ArmFN users are constructing their websites on the ArmFN server. At the same time, we are somewhat surprised that practically none of you informs the ArmFN administration about this. Therefore, we kindly and firmly request those that have almost completed
construction of their websites to inform the Freenet Daemon at freenet-daemon@freenet.am to enable us to include your site link in the website catalogue under /Users.html .
We would like to remind our users that sites containing commercial advertising, as well as commercial websites cannot be hosted on the ArmFN. We would also like to once more draw your attention to a possibility to increase disk space quotas for the most interesting (in ArmFN administration's judgement) sites by sending an appropriate request to Freenet Daemon. For more info, please see /Agreement-Online.html .
