Presidential Elections (16 March 1998) website During the first round of the Presidential Elections (16 March 1998), the cec.freenet.am mother site was visited by over 5,000 users, 50% of whom were from Armenia and the rest from all over the world with most hits from USA, Canada, Argentina, Chile, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Norway, CIS Countries, etc. The statistical analysis showed that the pages on the results of the elections and relevant detailed data were of most interest for the users. In view of the immense interest toward the CEC website on the Armenian Freenet, two mirror servers in the US (cec1.freenet.am) and in the UK (131.111.106.145) were put to facilitate access for overseas users. Due to the current limited capacity of the Freenet Internet channel, the Physics Institute and Arminco Global Telecommunications rendered their 2Mb/s channels to provide better connectivity to the mother site.
