Newsgroups Server Launched An exciting news from the Freenet Administration - a newsgroups server has been established and launched! We are sure that this initiative would be welcomed by most of our users, since it may be interesting to both the beginner and advanced Internet users.
Please, see our web site at http://news.freenet.am for detailed explanations on what is Usenet in general, what is Armenian Freenet's Newsgroups, what groups are currently established in the am.* hierarchy, how to read and post articles, etc.
Currently there are total of 14 groups - some of them may be of ineterest for many people (such like Noyan Tapan's daily news posted to am.noyan-tapan.*), whereas other discussions are dedicated to more specific areas (i.e. am.www.webmasters, am.comp.standards).
Here is a brief description of the administrative newsgroups, which are recommended to be looked at first, before you subscribe to a real discussion:
am.newsgroups.announce - announcements from the newsgroups administrator; subscribe to this group to be informed on creation of new groups and other important administrative announcements.
am.newsgroups.using - ask your questions regarding operation of newsgroups; the questions and answers are gathered in the regular F.A.Q. release. Hope that answers will come not only from the system administrator, but also from some advanced users ;) Besides, if you have suggestions on creation of new groups - post them here.
am.freenet.using - if you are a Freenet user, then this is your technical support area. Ask your questions on using Armenian Freenet's services here. This newsgroup is a supplement for our Frequently Asked Questions page at /Faq.html
am.test - try sending/recieving test messages here. Please, do not post tests anywhere else!
